Since I don’t want to spend anymore time than I have already and I’m too lazy to put in all the right HTML need for the visuals here at GR, you can read the full review here, http: Lots of repetition from previous books, from this book and not much action. The writing is horrible. But no words can describe how absolutely horrible this book is. Part Two is suddenly set four years later for no good reason. Topics Bad sex award. The repetition is inexcusable and drags the story down.

Ayla also discovers that the Clan visit some of the sacred caves as well. Auel deals with it in a couple of paragraphs of overview after the lengthiest cave tour yet and then sends all her characters back home without ever really exploring it at all.

Apr 18, Jeanette “Astute Crabbist” rated it did not like it Shelves: Ayla goes off and does it with someone else, during a festival where it is proper to do it with anyone you like. The discovery of this plot twist comes pretty much out of the blue; if it was set up a bit better, with some real time spent on establishing how Jondalar comes round to that way of thinking, it might be just about believable, but certainly not with Marona, a stock character who has been vicious to Ayla pretty much from day one — Zolena, Joplaya, or any other woman really would have been a more believable choice.

The last fourth of the book gets a little more interesting, but it was “too little too late” for my taste.

The Clan of the Cave Bear was a masterful character driven drama, if slightly plodding, an intensive study of both the nature of characters and relationships. She felt sensations that reached deep inside the place that ached for him. The people accept this and coin the word tye, etymology as follows: But wait, do tthe have interesting conclusions to why the artists drew on the walls?

Suddenly, almost too soon, they felt the Pleasure mounting. They grab her and Jondalar somehow miraculously goes from in front of the evil band of rapist men to behind them, breaks the leather-thong assisted choke-hold the dude has on Ayla, and saves her from them. I’m just being truthful.

As the story opens, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with the Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave. But all the time Ayala has spent in training rituals has caused Jondalar to drift away from her.

I was so upset that Ayla was so encouraged to become Zelandonii one who serves the mother. There was not one person I came to care about in that book. The rituals themselves bring her close to death, but through them Ayla gains A Gift of Knowledge so important that it will change her world.

Ayla meets many other Zelandoni and one of them gives her a pouch of dried herbs smelling faintly of mint. Che fosse stato, allora, lui a ingravidarla col suo sguardo! Even Auel gets bored of this in the end, and Ayla apinted some sort of convenient dream-based brainstorm and wakes up with a perfect command of Cro-Magnon language.

That being said, the first pages are overly wordy, repetitive not repetitive from earlier books in the series, repetitive within those pages and, quite frankly, a bit boring. Mar 29, Pages.
