Indigo Prophecy also known as Fahrenheit is a Shenmue-esque psychological, crime, and investigation thriller. I think I’ll leave Linnear to his cherry blossoms and plovers wheeling playfully in the sky. Either way, it was the most interesting book in the box, and I figured I needed to do something with my East Asian Studies major. Miko are temple handmaidens, trained in various arts, often fortune telling, not priestesses, and below the priest in hierarchy but a very prestigious role albeit in part servile.
It probably would have been better if someone told me this was urban fantasy.

Be the first to discover new talent! Much of the Japanese bit of this book is Eastern philosophy fantasy. Interesting book on Japanese Cultural differences and human relations. It’s believable because there is a believable world constructed around our heroes and villains. I’ve played a million games, and I’ve rocked them all. In Tokyo, Linnear finds far more to worry about than the intricacies of Japanese business. So the It’s amazing to read this series 30 years after it was first published.
In the bustling city, Linnear finds far more to worry about than the intricacies of Japanese business. I struggled through it and just learn there’s more in the series! A very solid work and all the justification needed for me to read then next one. Most were leaders in the largest companies in the country and were needed to grow Japan back and into democratic rules so as to be a beacon and firewall against the rise of Communism in the area.

If you can get past the anachronisms, its an intricate and complex story weaving together the past and the present, Eastern and Western cultures and some dynamic martial art sequences involving Ninjutsu, Aikido, Sumo and others. But what I like about here is the contention and doubts Nicholas felt at the end part of the story.

Mjko I am a bit disappointed with this book. But although he may look American, a childhood spent in the dojos of Japan taught Linnear that vengeance must never be hurried.

This is the second reading for me. There was a problem adding your email address. If you’re interested in East Asian culture, not J-Pop or anime, but deeply ingrained beliefs about social status and how it affects everyday communication, then the Ninja is a must-read series.
Questionable physiological feats by the characters also lowered the score compared to The Ninja where these skills were perhaps more believable.
