I would like to know if I have a National Insurance Number under my married name through my husband being employed there? Sorry for the delay in response — I took some much needed time off. Your NI number would not have been issued to you through your husband — it is only attached to individuals. That does not mean you do not have one. I guess it depends on how sure you are about not having but if you can retrieve your NI under fotm old name before applying for a new one, that will probably save you a lot of issues down the track.
The details of how to do this are on this page. Thanks for the reply Quinn. My husband did claim unemployment benefit for the family when we lived in London so would my NI number have been activated then?
